Not sure if you gave up on it or not, but I dual wielded it with the winged scythe on my second playthrough (which has better raw damage). I kept the halo in my right for that sweet destructo disk. By end game it was doing roughly 1k per cast at about level 145 with the jumping slash usually landing for 1500-2k.

For those who want to farm the Halo Scythe, this is my preferred route. 4 scythe wielding cleanrot knights relatively close together without any spear wielding ones interrupting the farm.
