Jul 28, 2020 · On hot days (temps in 90's plus), my Jeep would overheat while driving regardless of speed. Higher speeds didn't help cool it off. In older vehicles that had questionable cooling fans, you could just drive 50-60 and the airflow through radiator was enough to keep your engine happy. Not so in the JK. Particularly if you're running the A/C. When the engine is hot and the fan clutch is HOT, from the hot air coming through the radiator, it should be engaged (very difficult to spin by hand). If the engine is cooled down and your fan clutch is cool, it should NOT be engaged (much easier to spin by hand). I can drive around town all day and go 55-60 on the highway with no problems (temperature stays just about 210, just under 210 is normal for a Jeep, so a little hotter than normal but will never overheat.) Check your transmission fluid level and condition. Also check for any obstruction of the transmission cooler. Check for mud, debris, bags or anything blocking the airflow. JeepHerz.

When I started actually paying close attention to it the needle was staying at the third little hash mark on the gauge (so technical right).

Try leaving the AC on it will turn the engine fan on Low and keep coolant temps down. Today I noticed 2 things. 1) the little rubber seal on my rear dana 35 pumpkin oozes oil when I press it. 2) the rear differential is really hot (can touch it for about 3 sec before pulling away).Running Hot.
