There are no reasons to own pets nowadays except to fulfill your own emotional needs. Historically, humans owned animals for practical reasons. I’m not saying it’s right, but they were really needed to produce basic goods or services like food or transportation. Bikes, cars, trains, whatever, are now in place and we don’t need horses anymore.
