Ticking noise under acceleration. Hi everyone my 05 LLY has developed a awful tick under load. I believe it may be dirty injectors. Still plenty of power and I use Howes diesel treat with every tank. Mar 17, 2013 · I have an 01 duramax that I recently replaced headgaskets in. Shortly after the headgasket job a ticking noise appeared. I think it sounds like a lifter ticking. Possibly a lifter loosened up a little after it has been running. A friend of mine disagrees. He says it is injectors ticking because they are bad. I have no other symptoms. All Duramax™ engines are manufactured to very close tolerances to meet the durability and reliability standards. Cause This ticking noise is caused by oil bubbling and excited by the V8 configuration and combustion sequence.
