The Dr. Who precons are pretty strong out of the box and fun to play. A lot of reasonable value reprints in them as well. Not the 50 dollar per card kind but 2-5 dollars. So playable yet not bonkers staples. If you can go older, the meren of clan nel Toth precon is probably one of the strongest precons ever printed.I like WH40k, I like magic, and boy oh boy do they nail the aesthetic and themes. I even manage to get some people together on occasion to play commander with unmodded 40k precons. Love it. But obviously I want to play other commander events/groups, and the 40k decks are just not powered enough (or rather, fast enough...Some precons are better than others, but they're all pretty fun to play. The Warhammer 40k precons are pretty solid out of the box.To completely ignore the Vorthos aspect when discussing a Vorthos product is a complete erasure of an entire section of the EDH player base. Everyone is on a high from the 40k precons but the Phyrexia Ones play quite well and reasonable to upgrade. Maybe the two DMU ones also.
