It is composed of the Upper Town and the Lower Town, two areas with different historical and cultural features. The Upper Town dates to the 17th and 18th centuries and is the site of the fort, the city hall, and the museums. The Lower Town dates to the 16th and 17th centuries and is the site of the old habitation, the church, and the park.
