Posted November 7, 2012. Hoyt and Mathews make a very good bow and between the 2 I would take a Hoyt. But if your open to other brands look at Athens Archery. I have shot a bunch of different bows in the past 3-4 years before shooting an Athens 2 years ago and will only be buying there bows from now on.The Hoyt is just a little faster. (like 3fps). As far as noise we can't tell the difference between the two. I think his has less hand shock and he thinks mine has less hand shock, but what we both agree on is the Hoyt's draw cycle is WAY smoother than the Mathews. Both are great bows but the draw cycle on the Mathews killed it for me.The new wall on the ZTR Cams felt perfect at full draw and really allowed me to come into a perfect anchor. Getting to anchor was also a great feeling with the smooth draw of the cams. A lot of times with longer axle-to-axle and longer brace height bows you sacrifice speed.
